Her-story
I have had a 25 year career in the creative advertising and production industry, in a very hands-on way. I left school early and started working as a typesetter at 19, which gave me a strong grounding in the fundamentals of production, craft and the discipline required to deliver work to a high standard. From print to digital, brand and designing for grass roots businesses. Everything I’ve learned has been on the job.
Originally from Adelaide, I moved to Melbourne through a transfer with production company Wellcom. By the age of 24, I was working at Grey Worldwide, then Clemenger Harvie Edge (CHE), one of Australia’s leading advertising agencies. Over the following decade, I had the opportunity to learn the industry from some of the best—working alongside marketing experts, writers, art directors, studio teams and production specialists. A time where studios didn’t finish at 5pm, we ordered pizzas and worked late, because we loved it. It taught me the importance of pace, collaboration, problem-solving and delivering exceptional work under pressure. Mostly retail and always customer facing. I’ve tackled 3D instore design, experiential brand activations, typeset obituaries, packaging, websites and anything that ADOBE allows me to create. I’m not going to lie, I love print and it’s not dead.
A key strength I have developed throughout my career is what I would describe as my visionary creative thinking. I have an ability to understand the essence of a brand, organisation or cause, find the compelling idea within it, and then translate that into a consistent flow of creative concepts. For me, it is not about creating one great idea; it is about establishing a creative territory that can continue to generate relevant, engaging and purposeful work across different audiences, channels and moments.
Today, I work primarily through freelance and contract roles, bringing the breadth of that experience into different organisations and teams. I can work on your exisiting clients with rollouts, finished art and print collateral. I am not a ‘social media content creator’ and have no problem not being that person.
Whether you’re a recruiter wanting a gun for hire, or you’re an exisiting business needing a professional with the goods, I’m your rockstar. I live in Regional Victoria and I travel a few times a week to Melbourne, if you want me in-house. I prefer remote, but it’s always nice to hang out with a team too. It keeps life interesting!
